After less than a month on the job, the new-ish director of the Oregon State Hospital is on his way out. On the way up are cases of measles in the state, which have officially surpassed numbers from a peak outbreak two years ago.

Measles cases in 2026 surpass Oregon’s peak measles year

Oregon has officially surpassed the number of measles cases it had during its peak outbreak year two years ago.

The superintendent of the Oregon State Hospital who was appointed less than a month ago by a since-departed director of the Oregon Health Authority is out as head of the troubled state-run mental hospital, the health authority said Wednesday.
